our story

The Richmond Doula Project was born after three members attended Ancient Song Doula Services Decolonizing Birth Conference in September 2016. Talking about the gaps in care in the birth world for marginalized communities (including people of color, LGBTQI folks, undocumented folks and more), and seeing that reflected in Richmond, they started the Richmond Doula Project to not only work with these communities, but make sure that people from these communities are a part of the work.
